With the Covid-19 lock-down I’ve been thinking on how much I miss photos at Old San Juan. As a wedding photographer, the couples session before the wedding is something I really look forward to. Old San Juan is a classic when couples come and visit the Island. It’s easy, beautiful and convenient when you are short on time. It’s even better when you have the extra time since there are so many nooks and crannies to explore. The Old City never disappoints.
Here’s my top 10 things I miss about couples sessions at Old San Juan in no particular order:
-
The San Cristobal fort as my background.
-
The chance of grabbing a Piragua or a paleta from Señor Paleta along the way to freshen up and use it as prop.
-
The cats photo bombing.
-
The chance to grab a cup of coffee at one of the many coffee shops.
-
The ocean view from El Morro.
-
The unexpected sunset since there isn’t always one because Old San Juan is located north.
-
The feel you get when you walk the cobblestone streets.
-
Being able to color coordinate a building with the couples outfits, since there are so many colored buildings to choose from.
-
Definitely the sentry boxes. It doesn’t matter how many times I’ve posed couples next or near them, they are amazing for pics!
-
The colonial architecture. How lucky we are to have such a beautiful place to capture memories.
